Obituary of Deane Hardewyck Brink

Brink, Deane Hardewyck, a Huntington native died April 25, 2018, he was 84. Deane was born in Huntington on July 11, 1933. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1951 and earned a bachelors degree from The Environmental School of Forestry at Syracuse University in 1955. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955 and graduated from Officers Candidate School at Fort Sill Oklahoma as a Second Lieutenant. He married Antoinette Urraro in 1957, and celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage. He worked at U.S. Plywood and Champion International for many years. He was President of the Huntington Rotary Club in 1991-1992 and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition Award. He was very active in Scouting and was so proud of the many Eagle Scouts he nurtured. He also coached St. Patrick’s Little League for many years. In addition to his wife Deane is survived by sons, Deane Jr. (Kristi), Bixby (Holly), Peter and Thomas (Sandra) and seven grandchildren whom he adored. Visitation Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Huntington on Monday at 9:45 AM . Interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Huntington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Deane’s name can be made to any of the following organizations that Deane was passionate about: Boy Scouts of America, St. Patrick’s Little League, Rotary Club of Huntington or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
