Dyckes, Ira W., 99, of Huntington Station, formerly of Franklin Square, passed away on April 14, 2018. Beloved husband of 48 years to the late Rose. Loving father of Dennis, Thomas (Sharon), Kathleen, and James (Patricia). Cherished grandfather of 6 and great-grandfather of 13. Predeceased by brothers Charles and Robert and sister Margaret O’Flaherty. A World War II veteran, Ira proudly served in the Army 56th Signal Battalion which engaged in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy, campaigns in Ardennes, Northern France, Rhineland, and the liberation of Bergen-Beltzen. He was employed by the United Parcel Service for 30 years and then by the New York Telephone Company for 13 years. Visitation Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station. Funeral Mass Thursday 10 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Greenlawn. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Queens.
