Obituary of Patrick Hoey

Patrick “Pat” Hoey, 91, of Dominican Village, Amityville, NY, returned peacefully to his heavenly home on April 12, 2018.

Patrick was born to the late Elizabeth McConville and John J. Hoey on April 30, 1926.  He was raised with his four brothers, John J. Hoey, Jr.,  Matthew Hoey, James Hoey and Edward Hoey, in Brooklyn, New York.  Patrick served in the Army Corp of Engineers in WWII and continued his “service” by volunteer work with various Veterans’ organizations. 

Patrick was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his childhood sweetheart, Catherine Bertsch, in June 1949.  They lived in Floral Park, New York and raised five children with patience, love and humility.  Patrick worked for the NYC Transit Authority – Independent Subway system for over 40 years. 

Patrick is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine, who passed on October 13, 1995.   He is the loving father of Robert (Cynthia), Maureen, John (Donna), Peter (Karen) and Eileen; and the cherished grandfather of 8 and great grandchildren of 7, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  His family meant the world to him and he will be dearly and immeasurably missed by them.
