Please share a memory of Philip to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
O’Reilly, Philip J., Jr., passed away peacefully, on April 6th, surrounded by his family. Phil was the adored father of Mary and Mark Gibson, Maureen and Elizabeth O'Reilly; and grandfather of P.J., Danny, Luke, Grace Gibson and Caroline Anderson. He was married to the late Judith Grosso O'Reilly and was a devoted son to Mary Nolan O'Reilly and Philip J. O'Reilly Sr. He was a loyal brother and friend to Patricia Kirby, Brendan, Brian, and Karen O'Reilly. He was a cherished companion to Joan Gallelli, and a loving uncle to Kathleen McAnany, Richard and Brian Kirby, Tara Reed, Christine and Brian O'Reilly. He was a great friend to many, far too numerous to list. Born and raised in Queens, NY, Phil attended St. Sebastian's Roman Catholic School in Woodside and then went to Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn. He was a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and carried his Fighting Irish pride with him throughout his life. He earned a JD at St. John's University in Queens and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the New York University. Phil was the Managing Partner of O'Reilly, Marsh & Corteselli P.C., and focused his practice of law principally in the corporate area with an emphasis in corporate finance, securities law, and real estate. He was also the President and a director, and the Chief Financial Officer of the Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County. He was employed in the tax department at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell &Co., and was also a partner of Stonebridge Partners and a Director at Etubics Corporation. Phil's most cherished roles however were those of dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. His larger than life personality and quick wit endeared him to all who knew him. His humility; generous, kind, and giving spirit; and unparalleled devotion and loyalty to his family and friends are among the greatest legacies he will leave behind. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, April 11th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave, Huntington Station, NY 11746. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, April 12th at 10:30am at St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church, 175 Wolf Hill Rd, Melville, NY 11747. Interment is at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
