Obituary of Dennis A. O'Connor

Dennis O’Connor, age 68, of Huntington, New York, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. 

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, 3 children, Bobbi, Denise and Jim, 7 grandchildren, Kieran, Tyler, Logan, Jake, Zoey, Ruthie and Sara, sons-in-law Doug and Toby, daughter-in-law Katie, sister, Jean, brother, Mike, and many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins and treasured friends.

He was a graduate of Fordham Preparatory High School and Fordham University. He spent his career as a CPA and a finance executive at a variety of organizations including KPMG (formerly Peat Marwick), Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre and the United Way of NYC.   He was also a member of the Board of Trustees for Catholic Charities.

Dennis was a long-suffering (and yet still enthusiastic) Jets fan, but his favorite football games to watch were those his grandsons were playing in.  He was a devoted husband, Daddy and Pop Pop and will remain forever in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him and be loved by him.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday January 21 and Monday January 22 at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Avenue in Huntington.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:45 AM on Tuesday January 23 at Saint Hugh of Lincoln, 21 E 9th St in Huntington Station.
