Obituary of Josephine C. Fava "Chick"
Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Josephine “Chick” Fava was 80 years old. She lived her life with integrity and strength. She served in the Marine Reserves and in 1962, became one of the first female NYPD Policewomen. At the age of 33, with two young children (Tina 4 years old, Daniel 12 days old) Chick suffered a stroke due to a brain aneurysm. She was paralyzed on one side of her body for the rest of her life. And for the rest of her life, she fought to be as independent as she could. She ran her household, raised her children, and continued to be witty, smart and a great person to be around, never feeling sorry for herself. She was an avid NY Mets and NY Jets fan and couldn’t get enough of the news, always up on current events. Chick is survived by her daughter, Tina Stampfel, her son, Daniel Fava, her daughter-in-law, Melissa Fava, her son-in-law, Wally Stampfel, her grandchildren, Matt, Stella, Mia and Violet, and her niece, Leigh. Chick will always be thought of with admiration and love and for the inspirational way she lived her life. She will be missed terribly and loved always. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider donating to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
