Obituary of Bruce Warren Burns

Of Centerport, NY, and formerly of Bay Shore and Brightwaters, NY peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 8, at the age of 88. Known for his quick wit, Bruce was a kind, caring and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to so many. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Susanne. He loved his 6 sons MacGregor, Duncan, Christopher, Timothy, David, Peter, their loving wives Patti, Barbara, Pattye, Heidi, Susie, Susan and his grandchildren Andrew, Lauren, Amanda, Samantha, Heather, Sean, Sarah, Patrick, Katharine, Julia, Bryan , Danny and the late Eric. He cherished his time fishing, playing hockey, discussing sports and gardening with those he loved. Bruce was always there as a father and a coach for his children with Bay Shore Little League and West Islip Pop Warner Football. Bruce’s father Carroll, mother Margaret, brothers Carroll and Morgan predeceased him. After graduating from Hofstra University, he was an Army Intelligence Korean War Veteran. Bruce had a successful career as a Financial Analyst retiring as a Managing Director from Verizon. Bruce was an active member at St. Peter’s Church in Bay Shore, NY and was honored with the Bishop’s Cross for his years of devoted service. He cherished his weekly lunches with his Romeo’s lunch group. Bruce was appreciated by the many dogs he touched with his kind and kindred spirit. Those that were fortunate enough to have known him will miss him dearly.
