Obituary of Odessa Gentry

Odessa Brandon Gentry was born in Harlem, New York on August 4, 1938 to George and Florence Brandon. She attended and graduated from Little River School in Bahama, North Carolina in 1956. She later married Jasper Gentry in July of 1961, and after 27 years of employment at Pilgrim State Hospital she retired in 1993. For over forty years, she was an active member of the Progressive Holiness Church. Odessa is survived by one daughter and two sons Ms. Arnella Gentry, Mr. James Thomas Gentry, of Baltimore, MD and Mr. Gary Gentry of New York. Five sisters, Ms. Margie Green, Elaine Williams, Maxine Williams of Baltimore, MD. Mrs Nannie Gentry, Mrs Catherine Wright, of New York. Three brothers, Mr George Brandon, Jr. of New York, Mr. Eli Brandon of Philippines, and Mr. Earl Williams of Baltimore, MD. Three granddaughters, Nyrae, Tanaya, and Katrina. Four grandsons, Franklin (Demond), Joel, James, and David. Four great granddaughters, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
