Obituary of Catherine F. Roeder

Roeder, Catherine Fetherston, age 85, died of heart failure on June 11, 2016 surrounded by her family. The 50 year resident of Huntington, NY was the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (nee Kerrigan) Fetherston. Born in Niagara Falls, she grew up in Port Washington with her older brothers Joseph “Jay” and John “Jack” who predeceased her. Cate Fetherston attended Our Lady of Mercy Academy and Seton Hill College. She began her career with Long Island Lighting Company as a home economist. After raising 6 children she worked as a classroom aide in the Huntington Public Schools. Her heart was enormous and her family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Alexander “Sandy” Roeder and her children Margaret (Richard) Maynes, Susan (Thomas) Doherty, Christopher (Linda), Gregory (Carol), Stephen (Anne) and Katherine (Zachary) Howard. She was the loving grandmother to 16 grandchildren. Visitation Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station.
