Obituary of Marguerite Swainson Tiblin

Tiblin, Marguerite Swainson, 91, of Locust Grove, VA, passed away on Thursday, Dec 10, 2015. Bert, her husband of 63 years, preceded her in death on Feb 5, 2015. Survivors include her brother Gustav F Swainson Jr; children, Andrew (Becky), Geoffrey, Paula (Rick Langley), David; and ten grandchildren. Mrs. Tiblin attended St. John´s Episcopal Church in Cold Spring Harbor, NY; The Church of Our Saviour, Oatlands in Leesburg, Va; St. James´ Episcopal Church in Leesburg; St. Matthew´s Anglican Catholic Church in Newport News, Va; and Lake of the Woods Church in Locust Grove, Va. She attended Douglass College and Hofstra University, and earned a Masters Degree in Education from Adelphi University. Mrs. Tiblin was an elementary school teacher at Ss. Cyril & Methodius in Deer Park, NY, and Banneker Elementary in Middleburg, VA. In addition to being a homemaker and teacher, Mrs. Tiblin enjoyed gardening, skiing, sailing and golfing. She took pleasure in getting to know people, held an avid interest in history and loved visiting historical sites. She and Bert worked extensively on the family genealogy tracing lineage to mid-1500 Sweden. A burial service was held on Dec 19, 2015 at St. John´s Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Cold Spring Harbor, NY, and a memorial service on Jan 2, 2016 at The Church of Our Saviour, Oatlands, VA. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or local Alzheimer’s Foundation; or to the building fund for The Church of Our Savior, Oatlands, Box 1237, Leesburg, VA 20177-1237.
