Very sorry to read this. Bernie was an inspiration to me when I started my career in the aerospace industry and he was at Grumman Aerospace. He was a mentor to me when he was at Fairchild Aerospace and also on the National Aerospace committees. Bernie was responsible for many improvements and safety standards on commercial and military aircraft. I considered him to be a great friend as did many people!

Terri and I send our sincere condolences to Bernie Beal's family. Both Terri and I knew Bernie when we worked in the Aerospace Fastener business with Voi-Shan and Fairchild Fasteners. Bernie was very knowledgeable and a legend in the structural joining and assembly of aircraft to protect our country's interest. Rest in Peace Friend!

I am stunned and saddened to hear of Bernie's recent passing. He was the only man that could make me laugh at 6:45 in the morning!! He would call our home telephone number to talk to Charlie because he disliked "beepers". I can still hear his voice saying "Good morning Robin, I need to talk to Charlie".
It wouldn't surprise me that Bernie is probably talking to Saint Peter about how he can make the Gates of Heaven more structurally sound!!
May our Lord keep Nancy and family in his light and love.

Some can never be replaced. We forever feel the empty space and move on as best we can.

Bernie Will be missed. He was a terrific friend and colleague. He was missed at NASC and now the absence of his jokes and commentary e-mails will limit our daily smiles, but encourage memories of this great guy.
Thanks for being in my life.

I have shed many tears learning of Bernie’s passing but I realize that is something he would not have wanted.
Our Lord has welcomed home the one man most responsible for the care of the aerospace fastener.
Bernie always treated me as a fellow Grummanite.
.
So, so many years ago, Bernie provided me with comforting and knowledgeable guidance when I was struggling.
At day’s end, Bernie insisted that I make the final decisions and the executions of those decisions…
To say Bernie lost his patience with me at times would be an understatement yet Bernie always kept me focused on the correct solution.
Bernie was famous for his adage…”If you want something done, give it to a busy man."
I can still hear him saying that and I use his quote to this day.
Rest in Peace my friend…May God Bless you and the Beal Family.

Bernie Beal, the one bright engineer who everyone went to for advice and assistance. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge and gave it with a good sense of humor. We will miss him dearly. I first met him in 1963 and became close coworkers. When I went from structural design to engineering standards, he was there for me in help setting up the Grumman Standards for the aircraft & spacecraft. If there was a problem with something it was " CALL BERNIE ". I will miss you, love Frank Christina

My heartfelt sympathy to the Beal family.
I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Bernie at Grumman. Unfortunately I did not know the home Bernie Beal. It is very apparent to me that the man and his character followed him seamlessly throughout his entire life.
Bernie was one of the first senior engineers I had the pleasure to meet as a "young wet behind the ears engineer". Anytime I needed hardware information he was right there with the answer. In my humble opinion Bernie was second to none in the industry and in the field of aerospace fasteners.
RIP old friend until we meet again. Tony Tornabe

With sorrow I have heard of Bernie's passing. I often made use of his advice as a Stress Structural Engineer. He was always a great person to deal with and forgiving of silly questions, always answering with a smile and patience.in addition to going an extra mile if required. He was a true gentleman ..
The group of retired engineers that Bernie held together post retirement will certainly miss him.
I know I appreciate and certainly miss the super effort he made in arranging the lunches and keeping me and the group informed of significant happenings.
My condolences to all his family.
