A great Uncle who could always make me laugh. Great sense if humor and adventure. A multitalented man with a big heart. I will miss you, Uncle Ted!

I regret that I could not get out to New York from Boulder, CO to attend Ted's memorial service. We had not been in touch in many years, and I was deeply saddened and shocked to read of Ted's passing on Facebook. Mary, Sarah, Kristen, Gwynn, Sean, Dennis, and the rest of Ted's family, please accept my deepest condolences.
The last time I saw Ted was, I believe, in the early '90's in a Toys r Us store in the Boston area. He was at the checkout line with a big pile of Christmas presents for his children (mostly educational toys, if I remember correctly).
Ted ("Teddy" in the early days) and I go back to early childhood. We were in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts together, if not always in the same "den" or "troop." We attended many birthday parties together. We were in the same class year after year in grade school, and had many classes together in middle and high school. We acted together in the same school plays. We were always the academic overachievers. But I remember we couldn't help talking and joking during middle school Latin class. Ted always had a great attitude and sense of humor. We shared the same tastes in rock music and movies. I used to enjoy Ted's guitar playing from time to time. We saw the Grateful Dead together at Nassau Coliseum in about 1981 or 1982, and I think we saw Rush around the same time, probably with Richard Santoli and maybe Jimmy Matthews. We almost certainly saw Star Wars together when it came out. Ted always encouraged his friends - I remember his pointing out to me that a certain young woman at school was definitely "into" me. Pretty soon she was my girlfriend.
I am not familiar with Ted's career at Fidelity, but I know that he was a detail oriented and hard-working person. I was happy to know he was part of the organization where I have invested for many years. I know his passing is a huge loss to the firm.
Again, my sympathies go out to all of Ted's family and colleagues. May he rest in peace.

I went to college with Ted at Geneseo. We were suite-mates the first year and became good friends. I always appreciated his sense of humor. We had many fun times together. I'll never forget his face as he noodled on his guitar. I always enjoyed listening to him play. We lost touch a few years after college, but I've thought of him many times over the years, and even now, I can see his bright smile when I think of him. Though I haven't seen him in nearly 20 years, when I found out last night of his passing, I immediately made plans to drive to his service from Rochester. I was on my way this morning when my car broke down. I'm very sorry to say that I will be unable to attend. There's no doubt Ted will be missed greatly, but I will always carry his memory with me in my head and my heart.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Ted's passing. I have worked with Ted for almost six years and I will miss his pleasant nature and kindness. I always enjoyed the offsite meetings when I would get to see Ted in person. He always had a smile that would get even larger when asked about his wife and daughters. My deepest sympathy to the Riordan family.

Having worked with Ted at Fidelity over the years, when learning of this news, it left me in shock and deep sadness.
My memories of Ted are very fond and he will always be remembered in my heart as a good friend, mentor and colleague. As I confidently know that when more people share their memories of Ted it will probably be reiterated over and over much the same as mine. He was an individual who always worked very diligently in the various career paths he chose at Fidelity. No matter what the challenge was in front of him, he always handled it with great ease and confidence. My greatest memory of Ted, I will hold dearest is how he always managed to fill the room with his smile in greeting you good morning or hello and his positive energy.
I deeply regret that I will be out of town during these services this weekend. My deepest sympathies go out to his wife Mary and two daughters Kristen and Sarah, whom I know he loved very much and of course all the rest of his family and friends during this difficult and sad time.
My deepest condolences,
Diane Honoski

Probably all of us who knew and worked with Ted would describe him as full of life; extremely helpful and unselfish in sharing his knowledge and counsel; and a total workaholic who nevertheless found time to enjoy his beloved wife and daughters. He was a rare bright light during my Fidelity years, and I am beyond saddened at his untimely passing this week. Though I’m unable to join the Saturday services, please know that I’m there in spirit and that I hold his family and friends in my heart and prayers.
