Richard William Holst HOLST - Richard William, 60, Chaplain of Huntington Manor Fire Department, died in the line of duty on September 9, 2009. He was currently serving his Fire Department as Chaplain and Captain of Fire Police. He was also Chief Chaplain of the New York State Association of Fire Chaplains. Rich was an active member of many Suffolk County and Huntington Township firematic organizations, and the International Federation of Fire Chaplains. He recently retired from Keyspan/National Grid after 35 years of service. Rich was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, serving on board the USS Saratoga during the Vietnam War. Beloved husband and high school sweetheart of of Noreen (nee Marlborough). Loving son of Martha of Florida and the late Henry. Cherished brother of Holly (Ronald) O'Brien, John (Dorothea) all of Florida and Donald (Elizabeth) of Delaware. Dear brother-in-law of Lillian Ryan (Joseph) also of Florida. Much cherished uncle of Ronald and Matthew O'Brienand Raymond Ryan all of Florida. He always was and will always remain forever Our Hero. Visiting Saturday 7-9pm and Sunday 2-5 & 7-9pm at the Huntington Manor Fire Department, 1650 New York Ave., Huntington Station. Firematic Service Sunday 8pm. Mass Monday 10:30am St. Hugh of Lincoln R.C. Church New York Ave. Huntington Station. Burial, with Fire Department and Military Honors, Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Huntington Manor Fire Department Scholarship Fund, 1650 New York Ave, Huntington Station, NY 11746 would be appreciated.
