Obituary of Ava Marie Kennedy

Ava Marie Kennedy passed away peacefully on March 13, 2015. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 28, 1914 and was the third daughter of Anthony Ottman, a New York City fireman and an early racing cyclist and Julia Gavit Ottman. She played varsity basketball and acted while in high school. After high school, she attended Brown's Business School before working for the New York Telephone Company for several years. From her early years, she loved pretty clothes, dancing, champagne and boys.
In 1938 she married William (Bill) A. Kennedy who predeceased her on Feb 10, 2001. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Clarissa deBruin and Marjorie Daley. She is survived by her daughters Judy Christmann (wife of the late George E. Christmann, Jr.) and Lynne Kennedy and her spouse, Joan Darrah, and by her sister, Julie Pagan. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, six nieces and seven nephews and her friends on Huntington Terrace and out on the North Fork of Long Island. Although she was blind for the last few years of her life, she still maintained a positive attitude. Ava was a happy person who enjoyed dancing, golfing, playing bridge, knitting, bowling, going on cruises, watching the Mets, Jets, Knicks, golf, and tennis on TV, playing the slots, and visiting with and hearing about the adventures of her grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.
