Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marjorie Marran Feeney Marjorie Marran Feeney, age 85, of Lloyd Harbor, New York passed away peacefully Saturday, July 19th, 2014 in her family home. Marjorie, the daughter of the late Marcelle D. Marran and Francis L. Marran, was born December 3, 1929 in Patchogue, New York. Marjorie was the beloved wife of Dr. Robert James Feeney of Lloyd Harbor, New York, who she married on May 21, 1955. In addition to Robert, the love of her life and husband of 59 years, Marjorie is survived by five children and twelve grandchildren. She will forever be remembered as a devoted Mother to Maribeth Winslow of Sherman, CT, Ellen and Douglas Hiemstra of Hillsborough, CA, Kathleen Feeney of Martinsville, NJ, Anne and Paul Pinney of St Louis Park, MN and Robert James Jr. and Sarah Feeney of La Jolla, CA. Her twelve grandchildren treasure memories of beachcombing, clamming, swimming and snorkeling with their Grandmother on Fire Island and in the Cayman Islands. Marjorie was a loving daughter to Marcelle Demarre Marran and loving sister to three brothers: William, Francis and John Marran, who are all deceased. Marjorie graduated from Patchogue High School and attended Marymount College and Parson's School of Design in NYC. Following matriculation from Parson's, she was an active member of the Art Student League and soon began a distinguished career in fashion illustration and advertising at Bloomingdale's in New York. Marjorie was an accomplished watercolor artist. As a member of the prestigious Art League of Long Island, she won several awards in juried shows on Long Island. After establishing a winter residence in Grand Cayman in 1992, Marjorie exhibited extensively in the British West Indies. Her original paintings and commissions are in nearly 300 private collections worldwide. Marjorie lived on islands all of her life—Long Island, Fire Island and Grand Cayman—which fostered her innate love of painting seascapes, marine life and native flowers. She was in her element in bare feet, a bathing suit and breathing salt air. The only thing that she loved more than the ocean was her husband, mother, brothers, children and grandchildren. We will never forget her infinite love, patience, and smile. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 9:45 am at The Church of St. Patrick, 400 Main Street, Huntington, NY 11743. The Service will be followed by a burial at St. Frances de Sales Cemetery, Patchogue, NY. Flowers can be sent to M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Avenue, Huntington Station, N.Y. (631)427-1123 on Wednesday, July 23. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Marjorie's memory to Art League of Long Island, 107 E. Deer Park Road, Dix Hills, NY 11746 (artleagueli.org) or to The National Trust for the Cayman Islands (nationaltrust.org.ky.)
