Obituary of John B. Brown

BROWN, JOHN BARRY, 85 formally of Huntington. There will be one less in the foursome this weekend. John Barry Brown passed away peacefully in his home in North Palm Beach Fl, on June 16th, 2014 at the age of 85. He was born and raised in Bayside NY, and graduated from Fordham University in 1951. After serving 3 years as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, he became a CPA, joined the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen, and was a partner with the firm until his retirement in 1980. Amongst his various contributions to the Huntington Community, he served on the Board of Directors of Huntington Hospital from 1971-1989. John was an avid golfer throughout his life, and embraced the sport with his family and friends. John was predeceased by his first wife Patricia A Brown, and his oldest son John Barry Brown Jr. He is survived by his 9 children, Barbara Gargiulo, Catherine Sanderson, Christopher Brown, Timothy Brown, Patricia M. Duggan, Daniel Brown, Diane Ardell, James Brown, Carol Scully, and his 19 grandchildren and 1 great grand daughter. Visiting will be Thursday 2-4 pm and 7- 9 pm atMA Connell Funeral Home Inc., 934 New York Ave Huntington Station, NY. Mass Friday 9:45 am at St Patrick's R.C. Church Huntington NY. Burial to follow at Long Island National Cemetery Melville, NY.
