Obituary of Ellen K. Copp

Ellen Copp (nee Klimovich) of Huntington, LI died peacefully on May 26, 2014 at the Hospice Inn after a valiant effort to defeat cancer. Spiritual, optimistic and loving throughout her all too short life, Ellen is survived by her daughter Emma, son Ethan, and Geoff Copp; her sister's family, Mary and Peter Coleman of Greenwich CT, nephew Ryan and niece Allison; brother Bill and Vicki Klimovich of Conover, NC; sister-in-law's family, Carolyn and Bill Will, nephew Michael and niece Anna of Pittsburgh PA. Ellen was born on July 30, 1957 in Maspeth, NY; she received a Bachelor degree in Journalism and a Master's in Special Education at Buffalo State College. Ellen was passionate about her work at BOCES where she continued teaching until this year. She was an avid writer, reader, kayaker and music aficionado, with an eye for color and composition that showed in her photography. The beach and the Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay were special places for Ellen, as was any place she could be with Emma and Ethan. Friends will be received this Saturday and Sunday at M.A. Connell, 934 New York Avenue, Huntington Station, NY, 2-4pm and 7-9pm, where a memorial service will be held on Sunday at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, you may send a contribution, by check only, payable to: "The Ellen Copp Fund", which will be used to purchase technology to benefit students with special needs.
