BEACH - Arthur T. died peacefully at home in Huntington, NY on October 3rd at the age of 92. He was born on December 2, 1920 in Brooklyn and was raised in his beloved Huntington where he spent his entire life. Artiegraduated from Stony Brook Preparatory School and Lafayette College, class of 1942, with adegree in mechanical engineering. He played football for the Leopards and was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He then served as an artillery officer in thePacific Theatre from 1942-1946 during WW II. After the war,Artie played semi-pro football for the Huntington Golden Bears. His nickname "ChampagneArtie" belied his toughness on the gridiron as a hard-hitting halfback. He was Chairman of the Board of Beach Russ Company and Abbe Engineering Company, and a member of the American Vacuum Society and the Environmental Engineering Society. Artie held several patents in vacuum engineering. He also was a long-time member of Huntingto Country Club where he excelled in paddle and tennis. With his sons earning 3 national championship trophies, Artie was an avid lifelong lacrosse fan and never missed a game anywhere that his sons or grandchildren were playing. With his magnetic personality and keen sense of humor, he made everybody feel important. Artie had a wonderful life full of family fun, good times and great friends. He is survived by five children and their in-laws: Rick and Cade of Maplewood, NJ; Betsy and Monk of Rye, NY; Liz of Cold SpringHarbor, NY; Cyndy and Mark of Pasadena, MD; Todd of Huntington, NY; Peter and Lisa of Huntington, NY; fourteen grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. He is predeceased by his beautiful wife of 60 years, Kiki, and his beloved son, CA. Contributions may be made inArtie's memory to the US Lacrosse Foundation on 113 West University Parkway, Baltimore, MD 21210.
