BURNS - James J., Lifetime resident of Huntington. Suffolk County Police Officer- 48 years. Originally began career as Huntington Town Police officer merging into Suffolk County. Burns enjoyed an ideal police career with positions as a patrol officer, motorcycle police, marine division, street crime, highway-weights and measures, to his last years prior to retirement in the court liaison's office. He also served his country during the Korean War. Beloved husband to Minnie (Arella) Burns for over 50 years. Very special father to son J.J. and wife Randi. Devoted grandfather of Carleigh, Ryan, Connor, and Caroline. Brother to Thomas. Visitation M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station, Thursday 2-4 & 7-9PM. Mass St. Patrick's Church, Huntington, Friday 9:45AM. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Huntington.
