Schoenig, Elizabeth A., of Huntington, on January 16, 2017. A beloved mother, devoted wife and sister, loving mother, and supremely generous friend, she leaves a legacy of family, laughter, and bravery, and will be profoundly missed. Born on May 18, 1939 in Rockaway Beach, Elizabeth attended St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School and Stella Maris High School. In 1970, she married Alfred Schoenig of Brooklyn. When Alfred passed into eternal life suddenly in 1981, she heroically raised their three children, Jaqueline, James, and John as a single mother. She built community everywhere she went, particularly on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean at Sun and Surf Beach Club, which was a second home to her. She is preceded in death by her father John Connolly, her mother Elizabeth McGuire Connolly and her husband Al. She is survived by her three children Jaqueline Ridley, James Safonte and, John Schoenig; by her son-in-law James and her daughter in law Demetra; by her six grandchildren, James, Katie, Anna, Cormac, Thomas, and John; by her brothers Ray (Eileen), John (Nancy) and Richard (Jan); and by numerous nieces and nephews.
