Robert H. Jankowski was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 6, 1943 to Margaret Twomey and Henry Jankowski. He was the oldest of three brothers. Robert, James, and Daniel grew up very close and shared many fun childhood experiences playing softball, basketball, stickball, and soccer. Robert attended Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, graduating in 1965 with his Bachelor’s degree and earned his Master’s degree in 1970. He began a successful civil engineering career, working at Grumman and Browne Management Systems for the large majority of his career. He proudly contributed to many secret Grumman aircraft systems. Robert, most commonly referred to as Bob, enjoyed simple pleasure. He was a nature lover and he could be found working his yard on his garden and a pond he built with his daughters. He spent many summers in Catskills NY visiting family and spending time at SunnyHill Resort which he deeply enjoyed. He was a father to two daughters and three grandchildren. He always jumped at the chance to “babysit” and spend time with any of his family members. He loved icecream and his grandchildren were his perfect accomplices. He took great joy in playing with them, teaching them, and watching all of their sporting events, concerts, and graduations. Robert was an intelligent, hard working, helpful, and loving family man. He was always available to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and his neighbors. He had a great sense of humor; the ultimate dad joke connoisseur. His faith lead all of his decisions and his trust in God never wavered. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years (Susanne); his brother James (Carol); late brother (Daniel.) He is also survived by his beloved children Christine (Michael), Jennifer (Paul), and his loving and cherished grandchildren Jack, Johanna, and Patrick, who brought him ample amounts of love and joy. Robert also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
