Elaine J. Sarin Obituary
Elaine Josephine Sarin passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a life beautifully lived. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of kindness, creativity, and service. Elaine was a devoted daughter, a loving wife, a caring aunt, and a treasured presence in the lives of so many. She is survived by her husband, Har D. Sarin.
Born to Fannie and Joseph Montaperto, Elaine carried with her the strong family values she learned early in life. Those values shaped the way she loved others and the way she moved through the world with grace, warmth, and generosity. She also served with dedication through her work with the U.S. Navy, bringing commitment and pride to all that she did.
Elaine gave so much of herself to her community. For many years, she was a devoted member of the Life Enrichment Center in Oyster Bay, where she also served as a board member. Her kindness, compassion, and willingness to help others made her deeply loved there. Receiving a 10-year service award was a fitting tribute to the care and joy she shared so freely. She especially loved tap dancing with her senior group, and her lively spirit brought smiles to everyone around her.
A gifted and creative woman, Elaine found joy in crochet and in sharing her talents with others. She lovingly started a small crochet group called “Happy Hookers,” where she made beautiful handmade baby blankets and shared them with family members and others. Through every stitch, she gave something of her heart.
Elaine also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved dogs, Vincent, Johnathan, and Sammy, who brought her comfort and happiness through the years.
More than anything, Elaine will be remembered for the love she gave and the warmth she carried. She was a wonderful daughter, a loving wife, a caring cousin and aunt, and a truly kind-hearted person. Her gentle spirit and beautiful memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, April 18, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a service at 12:00 noon at Long Island Cremation Company.
