James B. Eng Obituary


James B. Eng, also known as Bock Sue Ng, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the age of 92.


Born on June 11, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, to Paul and Mary, Jim grew up with his sisters Lucy, Ruth, and Rose Marie, and his brother David. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Military Police officer during the Korean War, stationed in Munich, Germany until 1958.


After his service, Jim settled in New York, eventually making his home in Huntington, Long Island. He met his beloved wife, Amirta, while working at the Pancake House in Levittown. They married in 1965 and welcomed their son, Bob, in 1966.


Jim was a dedicated and hardworking provider who held many roles throughout his life, including waiter, bartender, maître d’, maintenance engineer, security guard, and commissary chef.


He was known as a gentle, kind, and easygoing man with a warm sense of humor. Jimhad a deep love for cooking and took great joy in preparing meals for his family, often expressing his love through food. He also enjoyed fishing trips to Captree, caring for his plants, reading the newspaper, and taking drives and road trips.


Family was everything to Jim. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and was especially proud of his son Bob and his grandchildren, Nicole and Robert. He shared a special bond with his daughter-in-law Nina, whom he adoredwholeheartedly.


Jim will be remembered for his quiet strength, generosity, and the love he gave so freely to his family. He will be deeply missed.
