Eleanor C. Gerdik Obituary
Our dear mother, Eleanor, 94, passed away peacefully in the morning hours on March 26, 2026 at her home as was her wish. She was a beloved wife to her late husband, Stephen Gerdik, Sr. (who always referred to her as his “bride”), a caring daughter to her predeceased Irish parents, Mary and David Tobin, a devoted mother to her children, Patty, Sharon and Steve, Jr. “Mum” cherished her grandchildren, Lauren, David, Steve, III, Kristine and Danny as well as her great grandchildren, Lilly, Josie and Isla.
Our mother was always up to date on world and local news and shared her opinions in a way that only comes from knowing what matters and holding onto it with grace. She lived her faith sincerely and quietly, showing it through kindness, compassion and a life spent putting others first. She supported many charitable causes and believed in leaving the world a little better than she found it.
Mom loved the home that she shared with Dad and all her family for 69 years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and watching the birds that visited her yard. In her younger years, she and Dad enjoyed traveling on cruises, sunning on warm beaches, and visiting historical sites while Dad golfed.
“We never lose our loved ones. They accompany us; they don’t disappear from our lives. We are merely in different rooms.” - Paulo Coelho
Visitation will be held on March 30, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station, NY 11746. Burial will take place on March 31, 2026 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Huntington (Cold Spring Harbor), NY 11724.
In Lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Eleanor’s giving spirit with a donation to charity of your choice.
