Jeremiah McCarthy. April 7, 1942-February 3rd, 2026,
We are heartbroken to announce Jeremiah “Jerry” McCarthy, 83, Huntington NY, passed away in the early hours of February 3rd, 2026. Born and raised in Harlem and The Bronx, Jerry was the youngest child of Irish immigrants from Cork. Being a child of immigrants, Jerry knew the meaning of hard work; he earned his degree from Bronx Community college and served his country as a member of the U.S. National Guard.
Jerry worked for several Petroleum companies throughout his career, retiring as a Senior Vice President of the Castle Oil Corporation in 2009. It was an extremley niche job that required one to be part commodites trader, part chemist and part physical oceanographer.
Jerry was a voraciuos reader, a fan of all NY sports teams, a remarkable joke teller and an avid golfer--although he would be the first to tell you how poorly he played the game.
He is predeceased by his childhood sweetheart, love of his life and wife of 49 years, Mary, and survived by his Chldren: Beth (Marc), Joseph (Genevieve), Michael (Maggie) and his 3 grandchildren Olivia, Jeremy and Matthew.
Jerry was a warm, funny, intelligent, generous, beautiful man, who will be missed immensely.
