Elizabeth Longo Obituary

Elizabeth Longo, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, at the age of 75, in Melville, New York.

Born and raised in Jamaica, Queens, Liz built a life centered on love, family, and joy. She was the devoted wife and great love of Emilio Longo, who preceded her in death in 2011. Their bond was one of deep affection, respect, partnership, and unwavering devotion.

Liz was a proud and loving mother to her two daughters, Karen Lindberg (husband Rob Lindberg, son Robbie Lindberg) and Susan Carter (husband Drew Carter, daughter Sofia Carter). To her grandchildren (and many others), she was affectionately known as “Mimi,” a title she wore with immense pride and joy. Her grandchildren were her heart, and she never missed a chance to celebrate them, brag about them, or spend time playing games—especially if she was winning (even if she had to bend the rules a little).

Liz was known for her beautiful smile, gorgeous eyes, and infectious laugh. She had a way of lighting up every room she entered and was truly the life of the party. Fun-loving, brave, caring, and endlessly generous, she never said no to anyone and was often considered a “second mother” by many. Though she was an only child, she made everyone feel like family and many thought of her as a “sister”.

Deeply rooted in her Italian traditions, Liz showed love through food—always feeding her family and friends, making sure no one ever left her home hungry. She adored music, loved to dance, enjoyed shopping, and was always impeccably put together in her cute outfits with perfectly matching shoes and accessories. She never went without her mascara, kept everything spotless (especially with her beloved Lysol), and stayed active by being extremely loyal to her Peloton.

Liz loved Betty Boop, Tina Turner, game nights, watching her TV Land channel and time spent surrounded by family and friends. Her home was a place of laughter, warmth, and togetherness. Above all, she emitted love, respect, and thoughtfulness, leaving a tremendous, positive influence on everyone lucky enough to know her.

Elizabeth Longo’s legacy is one of devotion to faith, family, friends, and a life lived with joy, humor, and heart. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
