Dear Claudia and family,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Richard’s passing. Although I was unable to attend the services in person after having moved out of state, I wanted to share how meaningful Richard’s presence was in my life and in the Friendship Force Long Island community.
Richard was a steady and caring force — generous with his time, thoughtful in his leadership, and meticulous in all that he did, especially in managing the chapter’s finances. He also took great pride in leading tours into New York City, warmly welcoming visitors from across the country and around the world and making them feel at home.
Some of my fondest memories are of time spent with Richard and Claudia in their home — gathered in the backyard or around the dining room table, sharing meals, laughter, and conversation. Those moments captured Richard’s gentle spirit, kindness, and genuine love of people. He was fully engaged in life and in friendship, and it showed.
Richard lived with integrity, generosity, and quiet joy. He made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, and he will be deeply missed.
Thank you, Richard, for your kindness, your leadership, and the many moments of laughter and friendship you shared so freely.
May Richard’s memory continue to bring warmth, peace, and joy to all who loved him, and may that same sense of love and light carry Claudia and the family gently through the days ahead.
In Friendship and Love,
Denise Thompson

Our time with Richard was brief, but he like all clients, he was considered a friend. I wish I knew Richard for a longer period of time. There was so much I believe we had in common. To his beautiful wife Claudia and kids Alyson and Chris, along with his grand children, in-laws and friends, Richard was undoubtedly a remarkable man, who will be missed. Fly with the angels Richard, keep watching over us. R.I.P.

We are saddened to hear of Richard's passing. We knew him from his early days in Brooklyn, attending his wedding to Claudia, their attending ours, and watching him raise his beautiful family. We always looked forward to get togethers when both our families were young. We are fortunate to have known him and will remember him for his warmth and sense of humor. These are the happy memories that we will keep.

Rich and I would sometimes drive my family car even though we were under age. One time , when we arrived back at the original parking space, I realized that the front tire was flat. Rich was the one who taught me how to change a flat tire. There are so many stories! Rich will be sorely missed. He is a good guy and a great friend.
