It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mary Lasurdo — beloved wife of James Lasurdo, cherished mother of Amy Lasurdo-Patti (Christopher), and loving sister to Janet Porto (Joe), Susan Pingaro (Mike), and Patricia Pappalardo (Frank).

Mary was a devoted aunt to Jessica Porto, Ariana Pingaro, Frank Pappalardo, Nick Pappalardo, Daniel Lasurdo, Matthew Lasurdo, Brent Messerschmidt, and Joy Ciofi.

Mary was kind, warm, and smart — a truly wonderful person. She deeply cherished and valued her family and friendships, nurturing them with love, loyalty, and genuine care throughout her life.  She remembered birthdays, reached out just to check in, and made you feel truly seen and valued. Her laughter was contagious, her advice always thoughtful, and her heart endlessly generous. Mary made everyone around her feel welcome and special.

Known lovingly as Dance Darling by her friends, her dance community held a special place in her heart, filled with friends who shared her passion for music and movement. Dancing with friends brough Mary pure joy, and it was a way she shared her bright, joyful spirit with everyone around her.  Mary’s presence had a way of turning ordinary moments into memories, and her warmth will live on in the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to know her.

Her funeral service will be at M. A. Connell Funeral Home Inc, 934 New York Avenue, Huntington Station, NY 11746, this Sunday from 12-2 EST.

At 1 PM, we will ask friends and family to share stories and memories about Mary during her service. Your memories will help us celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the joy she brought to so many.
