Marget Ann Gumbrecht Obituary

In Celebration of Marget (Peggy) Pardy Gumbrecht

July 15, 1937 – September 29, 2025

In the height of the Great Depression, the world gained a spark on July 15, 1937 in Richmond Hills, New  York, when Marget (Peggy) Pardy made her entrance. From the start, she was quick on her feet and even quicker with a witty remark, one that could be delivered with nothing more than a raised eyebrow. That eyebrow, mind you, was legendary—capable of silencing a room or dissolving it into laughter in an instant.

Peggy was many things—an athlete with a competitive streak, a curious student of spiritual growth, and, most importantly, a lifelong muse to her great love and partner on this earth (and now beyond), Donald. Together, they set the rhythm of a life full of laughter, family, and dances that never truly ended.

She was the devoted daughter of John and Mary, the playful little sister of Paul and Jim, and the fearless mother of seven—Marijean, Richard, Susan, Edward, Kathryn, Peter, and Amy—each of whom inherited her sharp wit and enormous heart.  Peggy was also the proud grandmother of twelve equally remarkable (and endlessly adored) grandchildren and eight (soon to be nine) cherished great-grandchildren.

Peggy didn’t just live in the world—she improved it. With every joke, every note on the piano, every comment from the sidelines, and every well-timed piece of wisdom, she made life richer and funnier for those lucky enough to know her. She leaves behind a hole in our hearts, but it is a hole that is filled with the love, laughter, and music she wove into our lives.

We say goodbye for now, imagining her and Dad—Donald—gliding across the heavens, still dancing, still laughing, still leading the way with an unforgettable sparkle in her eye, and a raised eyebrow.
