Joseph Toscano
April 27, 1946 – September 7, 2025
Joseph Toscano (“Joe,” “Joey T.,” “Poppy,” “Pop,” “Joe Bear,” “J.T.”), 79, of Huntington, passed away on September 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Christine. Cherished father of Joseph Jr. and Lori. Devoted Pop to Isabella, Sophia, and Joseph R. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ida, and his brother, Frank.
In addition to the unconditional love and support he gave his family, Joe deeply valued his friends, his home, and his dog, Sadie. After retirement, he spent 25 years with the Town of Huntington Parks Department, where he oversaw the men’s basketball, co-ed softball, and co-ed soccer programs.
Joe was a tremendous athlete. In softball, he pitched for Nick Brothers, The Lions Cage, Strawberries, and TNT. His passion for the game led to his induction into the Town of Huntington Softball Hall of Fame. Later, he took up golf and, like everything else he tried, he excelled at it. He spent countless hours on the golf course with his friends – many of them friends since high school. For 30 years, he also enjoyed playing in a Fantasy Football League, spending countless Sundays yelling at the TV!
As Pop, Joe truly adored his three grandchildren. He was so proud of them and cherished every moment spent together. A constant presence at their games and events, he was always there supporting, encouraging, and cheering them on. He was their biggest fan.
Joe shared 58 beautiful years with his high school sweetheart and true love, Christine. Together, they built a wonderful life filled with love, laughter, and an unshakable bond as true soulmates.
He loved to visit “his boys” at the gas station and was happy to get a cup of coffee and the Post every day. He loved any opportunity to listen to music (very loudly!), and the man could water a lawn like no other!
Joe was a faithful Catholic and attended mass at St. Patrick’s church weekly.
Joe was loved by all who knew him. His family and friends are heartbroken by his passing and will miss him every single day.
