Our Mom, Mother-in-law, Maryann, Mare… Mother Hubbard - bird… is gone after a courageous fight, and the world feels different without her.
Her love wasn't grand or flashy – it was something much more precious. It was quiet but constant. It was the kind of love that showed up, no matter what. Whether her boys needed her, or her granddaughters needed anything at all, Dennis… her friends - daughters in law needed help —- she was there. Always there.
Her sons were everything to her, the loves of her life. There was nothing she wouldn't do to make them happy. She loved with the protective heart of a mother and she extended that same generous heart to Stephanie and me, her daughters-in-law, welcoming us not as outsiders, but as daughters she chose to love no matter what.
I think about her love of her granddaughters —- in their laughter, she found joy. Nothing made her happier than when everyone was playing - getting along —- the sweetest reward for a life spent loving others.
Those who knew Maryann knew she loved to dance and shop —- she actually started her Christmas shopping already.
She was thoughtful, prepared, and practical.
Her purpose was simple and profound: to love. To raise her boys with devotion. To be the steady, reliable heartbeat of her family.
She was good – good to the core. Sometimes I wonder if she received back all the love she deserved in life —- I know at the end, she was surrounded by it —- she is surrounded by it now. Fully surrounded by people who love her wholeheartedly, who recognize the beautiful soul she was and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
Her body may not be working anymore, but her spirit – that loving, generous, worried-less spirit – lives on —- in her boys for sure.
So as we say goodbye or so long as Grandma Fran used to say —- to my mother in law i would say "Worry less, sweet soul. Dance more” —- keep dancing, knowing you are so loved. Dance knowing that your purpose – to love – continues in the hearts you've touched and the family you've shaped.
We will miss you so very much. But we will carry your love forward, showing up for each other the way you always showed up for us. Quiet but constant. Always there. Always loving.
Thank you, for loving us all the way you did.

Although geographic distance kept us from spending much time together, we are grateful for Maryann’s treating Stephanie as a daughter, not just a daughter-in-law when Mike and Stephanie were married. We will always remember Maryann’s kindness and her sweet and loving ways.

A nicer mother in law to Joelle could never be found. As time passed since Chris and Joelle wed Maryann became a loving member of our extended family. Birthdays, Holidays, and just plain old sitting found us enjoying her ways She is deeply missed. God rest her innocent and caring soul.

Maryann was like my little sister growing up though she was only a year younger. We spent so much time together since our mothers were sisters and always together. My fondest memories are of dragging her and my youngest brother on two trains then walking blocks to Astoria pool without any supervision. The good old days. When we were teenagers, I also had to take her to the beach with me! We attended the same high school and by then her parents moved to East Meadow so her dad had to drop her off at our house so we went to school together. Our lives went in different directions but we always kept in touch. I will miss her dearly and our long frequent phone calls to talk about our kids and grands. Plus our yearly visits in Florida. Love u kid. Say hi to all our parents up there

Maryann was one of the sweetest and generous friends. Even though I've known her only a couple of years, we shared many memories together. We will miss seeing her.

Maryann and I have known each other since 1980 when she became my neighbor on Torwood CT. We shared a wonderful camaraderie raising our children together.
Long after we stayed in touch and shared our experiences as proud grandmothers.
One of my favorite memories is the success we had going around different neighborhoods selling World Book Encyclopedia together.
So blessed to have had her as a friend.

My MaryAnn N. That’s what my loving name was for MaryAnn who came to my dance class on Monday. She always entered the studio smiling and was kind to everyone in the class. She’d always dance in the back with her friend MaryAnn C
I will miss that cute face. I know she’s with the Lord… dancing
