John Probst, a long time truck driver, business owner and resident of Huntington, died unexpectedly on July 9, 2025,at the age of 79.

John is survived by his wife, Gail Probst(née Woods); his children, Lauren Losquadro (Anthony), Meredith Brueckner (Adam), Matthew Probst (Carolyn), Jessica Voity (Christopher) and his 9 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his mother and father, John “Jack “ and Helen Probst and his sister Susan Loughlin.

John was born in New York City on August 7,1945. He graduated from St. Anselm College in 1968. On August 21, 1971, he married Gail Woods.

John was a devoted husband, father and the most loyal friend. He treated every interaction he had with the utmost importance and had the rare gift of making everyone feel seen and valued. He enjoyed trucking, movies, reading, and lending his hand to anyone he could. He will be missed dearly, but his legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the love he shared and the children he raised.  

A wake is scheduled from 3 pm to 7pm on Sunday, July 13th at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Avenue, Huntington Station, NY 11746. A funeral is scheduled for 10:30 am on Monday, July 14th at St. Pius X Church, 1 St. Pius Court, Planview, NY 11803.
