Fred and I were childhood buddies since elementary school. We attended Silas Wood Elementary School, Memorial Jr. High School, then graduated together in 1964 from Walt Whitman High School. In the spring we trout fished…In the summer we fished for largemouth bass and bluefish…and in the winter we hunted pheasant, quail, ducks and rabbits. We both did the best we could at taxidermy as well. We built our own fishing rods together.
After we both went off to college we kind of lost touch only to hook up on social media in our later years. Over the last few months we would text on a daily basis…depending upon how Fred was feeling. We would do our best trying to recall or times together so many years ago…..some times getting into funny disputes about how things REALLY went down. I would share videos of what I was grilling up in the backyard always with a token shot of my go to adult beverage…And Fred would let me know what wine he and Fran were pairing with their dinner as well as what bargains he had scored at “The Wine Guy”
I am so very thankful for all those memories and I can only hope that….at least for a few minutes…I brought my friend some comfort and joy.
Fred was my first real buddy and my best friend……..I will miss him…

We were so sad to hear that Freddie passed. Whenever we saw each other, he would always teased me, and we'd laugh together. So many good memories growing. I was just looking at old photos that my mother had, and as I was going through them, I realized that she had more pictures of Freddie as a baby, than she had of me, before I was 2 years old. He was a very cute baby. I remember his love for old cars and Corvettes. When my husband was with me at a family event he would talk to Fred about old classic cars. We will miss him dearly, especially at any of the 'Moon' family event. Rest in Peace Freddie,
