Obituary of Robert Hoffman

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert Charles Hoffman was born on October 13, 1979 in Huntington, NY, the youngest child of William and Adele Hoffman and brother to Jennifer, Kristen and Brendan.  He was a happy child, surrounded by friends and engaged in youth sports growing up on Long Island and New Jersey.  Bobby graduated from St. Anthony’s High School before setting off for college in upstate New York at Niagara University, where he received the Presidential Academic Scholarship.   During his junior year, Bobby travelled abroad to Switzerland getting to experience life outside of the United States.

As an adult, Bob furthered his interest in music, particularly hip hop and rap.  He loved his sneaker collection and his expressive tattoos.  Bob was a very intelligent man who shared his insights and theories on a variety of topics, ranging from politics to health.  He also had a fantastic sense of humor that would shine through when he was feeling most relaxed with his family.  He loved his nieces (Mackenzie, Abby, Katie, and Anna) and nephews (Colin, Alex, Timmy, Evan, Liam and Bennett) and was loved by them in return. These are the attributes and qualities of a man who bravely dealt with the affliction of mental illness for more than half of his life.  It was a daily struggle for him that he contended with admirably, recognized by those who knew of his challenges.

Bob was loved and cared for fiercely by his family, most notablyhis mother and father, who did everything in their power to ease his path through life.   Two weeks before his passing, Bobby called his parents and asked them to go out to lunch.  They did and enjoyed one of their happiest recent times together.  Bobby said to his father, “Isn’t this nice Dad?  The two of us eating lobster together?”  These are the memories that will sustain Bobby’s legacy, through the stories shared by the ones who knew and loved him unconditionally.  Bobby Hoffman’s worthy life was fueled by love, faith, patience and understanding.  He will be missed as he rests in the peace that he deserves.
