Obituary of Gail V Manley

Gail V. Manley, 90, of Melville, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, surrounded by loving family.

An avid reader and lifelong learner, Gail found joy in the pages of a good book and the friendly competition of her favorite game, Scrabble. She had a deep appreciation for nature—especially birdwatching—and loved spending quiet moments outdoors or simply looking out the kitchen window. She enjoyed the little things in life, like grilled cheese sandwiches, chatting over coffee, visiting the hair salon, and watching British TV.

Professionally, Gail worked as a secretary, where she thrived on her strong sense of organization and impeccable attention to detail. But Gail’s greatest commitment was to her family: her husband of 70 years, James; daughters Laura and Donna; and son Keith. She was an adoring grandmother to 10 grandchildren and loved to keep up with all their interests and stories.

Gail’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Active in her church community at Gloria Dei Lutheran, she shared her spirit of kindness and service with all who knew her.
 
Gail is survived by her beloved husband, James; her daughters Laura (Paul) and Donna (Michael); her son Keith (Dawn); her granddaughters Kristen (Guy), Kara, Nina, Emma, Avrie, Olivia, and Victoria; her grandsons Matthew (Shana), Jacob, and Daniel; and her brother Allen (Geraldine).
 
Private services will be held. To honor causes that were dear to Gail, her family asks that you consider a memorial donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Joseph’s Storehouse Food Pantry at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Huntington Station, NY.
