Please share a memory of Jeanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jeanne V. Poole (Jan), 96, of Huntington Station, NY, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025.
Jeanne was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Frances (Jeanne) Vuillet, her husband Davis T. Poole Jr., and her brother Robert Vuillet.
She is survived by: her three children - Anthony (Rosemarie) Poole, Jonathan (Jean) Poole, and Jennifer Poole; six grandchildren - Angela (Andy Hsiao) Poole and Leanna Poole, Michelle (Brandon) Boll and Courtney (Jason Tormey) Poole, and Breanne (Mike) Subin and Frankie (Stephanie) Mignano; and eight great grandchildren - Charlie and Lucy Boll, Elio Poole Tormey, Mikey and Jeremy Subin, and Josephine, Corrina, and Vincent Mignano.
Jeanne was born in London, England, on October 13, 1928. Her father sent the family to the United States at the start of World War II, when conditions in England worsened.
In the English tradition, she received her early education in boarding schools, then attended Elmira College where she graduated with a BA in Biology. It was at Elmira that she met Dave Poole, her future husband of 46 years, who was the cousin of a college friend.
Jeanne was a stay-at-home Mom until all her children were in school, then took at job in the Huntington Hospital Lab where she worked as a histologist until retiring in her late 50s.
She was a longtime member of the Old First Presbyterian Church. In her younger years, she volunteered in the toddler room during Sunday services, then for many years in the church’s thrift shop as well as other ministries.
Jeanne was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and had probably completed every 300-piece jigsaw puzzle ever made. She was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She was a kind, considerate, selfless person, who got along with everyone, and always put the needs of others before her own. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Visiting hours are Sunday, April 13, from 2pm to 6pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Huntington Public Library, the Old First Presbyterian Church, Huntington, NY, or the charity of your choice.
