Susan A. Lim, 77, of Huntington, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Sue was born on October 11, 1947 to Audrey and James Ryan, the oldest of five siblings. Sue grew up in Long Beach, attending Seaford Senior High School and the Academy of St. Joseph. She earned her nursing degree from Kings County Hospital Center School of Nursing. While working as a registered nurse at Nassau County Medical Center, she met the love of her life, Jimmy Lim, who had immigrated from the Philippines and was just beginning his career as an orthopedic surgeon. The couple married and together raised two wonderful daughters, Cassandra (“Cassie”) and Liam. Sue and Jimmy set their roots in Huntington in 1974 but enjoyed the beach year-round with many winter weeks in Palm Beach, Florida and summer weekends at their prized second home in Hampton Bays. Sue was an avid reader and loved to learn, never missing an episode of “Jeopardy” (and always waiting until Alex Trebek finished reading the “answer” before venturing a guess at the “question”). She was also a devout Catholic, dedicating much of her time to her local parish, St. Hugh of Lincoln, where she served as a eucharistic minister and altar server. Sue found enormous fulfilment and pride in her decision, later in life to merge her faith, devotion, intelligence, and determination in pursuit of a masters in theology, which she successfully obtained in 2004 from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception.
But her greatest commitment was to her family, particularly her two daughters. She poured herself into raising Cassie and Liam and never missed an event of theirs. She adored her two grandsons, Kellen and Carter, whose pictures line every surface of her house. And she was an equally doting dog-grandmother to Cassie’s and Liam’s canine children—Oscar, Kingston, Bruno, Tater and Cooper. Sue was loved dearly by everyone in her family, who will forever keep her in their hearts.
Sue is survived by her devoted husband, Jimmy; her daughters Cassandra Kulzer (Michael) and Liam O’Neill (Daniel); her grandsons Kellen and Carter O’Neill; and her beloved brothers and sisters—Jim Ryan (Mindy) of Greenport, New York; Barbara Coneys (Matt) of Fort Myers, Florida; George Ryan (Suzanne) of East Northport, New York, and John Ryan (Louise) of Daytona Beach, Florida.
Visitation Monday 2-4 & 5:30-7:30 PM at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station. Funeral Mass Tuesday, 9:30 AM at St. Hugh of Lincoln Church, Huntington Station.
