Obituary of Mary A. Clark

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary Agnes Moran Clark

Mary Agnes Moran Clark, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025. She was born on October 29, 1934, in The Bronx to Irish immigrant parents, James and Ellen Moran. The second of four children, Mary had an early adventure when she traveled with her mother and sister, Rose, to Ireland, spending a year on her grandparents’ farm. A true city girl, she quickly adapted to farm life—though not without a few mishaps, like the time a mischievous goose took a bite out of her skirt!

Mary attended school in The Bronx, graduating from Cathedral High School before beginning her career as a secretary at WR Grace in New York City. She had a deep love for travel and cherished time spent with friends at the Jersey Shore.

Fate stepped in when Mary met the love of her life, Jim Clark, while waiting in line for lunch in NYC. They married on June 19, 1965, and shared 48 wonderful years together until Jim’s passing. In 1965, they settled in Huntington, where they built their first home on Bronze Court before moving to Lloyd Harbor in 1977, a place Mary truly adored. She could often be found at the beach, ensuring her children learned to swim and taking part in crafts and community activities.

Mary and Jim were deeply devoted parents and grandparents, finding immense joy in attending school events, cheering them on at sports games, and instilling strong values of faith and service. Their commitment to the St. Patrick’s Church and the Huntington community was unwavering—they volunteered throughout their marriage, setting an inspiring example of generosity and kindness.

Mary’s life was filled with simple pleasures—playing Bridge and picking blueberries in Vermont with her beloved grandchildren.  She enjoyed her visit to Aruba and adventure to the Grand Canyon. Mary loved working at various banks in Huntington Village due to the friendships she developed with her customers.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jim, and her sister, Rose. She is survived by her sister Ellen (Jim) Flannery and brother Jim (Mary) Moran.

She leaves behind her daughter, Ellen Mary, and son-in-law Paul of Saxtons River, Vermont; her grandson Tucker and his fiancée Lyndsey, along with great-grandchildren Carolynn and TJ Lawrence of Westminster, VT; and her granddaughter Quinn—whom Mary had the honor of naming—of Biddeford, Maine.

She is also survived by her sons, James of Huntington,  Kevin, daughter-in-law Kristen and granddaughter MacKenzie of Stamford, CT whom MacKenzie affectionately called her  “Merma”

Mary also leaves behind her cherished nieces and nephews, friends and Yvonne - who took the most amazing care of mom for the last 7 years. We are truly grateful for Yvonne’s love. Mary’s love, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family and community will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
